Can dogs have lychees?

Sometimes – lychee flesh is not considered toxic, but the large pit is a choking hazard.

Why it is or is not safe

Lychee flesh is generally safe in small amounts. However, the hard central seed can obstruct the airway or intestines if swallowed.

How to serve

Remove the peel and pit completely. Offer only a small piece of fresh flesh. Avoid canned lychee in syrup.

Symptoms to watch for

Choking, vomiting, abdominal pain if pit is swallowed.
